Eddie Izzard Ran 32 Marathons in 31 Days- Late Night with Seth Meyers

Late Night with Seth Meyers

  • i love her so much! What a brilliant person xxx

  • I don't think even god herself can explain Eddie Izzard. She is definitely living proof of the evolution of human beings (unless we decide to keep going the other way and end up extinct, as has been the case).

  • EDDIE IZZARD IS EVERYTHING. She has contributed so much to comedy and is so talented.

  • It was such a one off comment, but "I didn't think my dad followed my career but it seems he saved everything" is so lovely and heartbreakingly wonderful. Eddie Izzard you magnificent woman.

  • Ewww no Just no

  • Such a great interviewee!

  • Eddie Izzard! From one runner to another, from one human being to another, if you ever do anything like this again, put me on the call list!

  • I was always a big Eddie Izzard fan, and after his/hers , Make Humanity Great Again, campaign I'm even a bigger fan. Looking forward to see the movie. I love when people use their platform to do good things for other human beings. 💕

  • God, I love Eddie! The running is incomprehensible to me!

  • Cute!

  • I’ve had a crush on Eddie for years! She/him/them - I’m still all in!

  • This bloke is a complete idiot. He think he can just state that he is a woman. He can dress how he wants, wear what make up he wants but he is not & never will be a woman. Thankfully there are actual women in the UK who are not having this BS. #TerfWars #MagdalenBerns

  • Eddie talks about working on her film? He looks more manly than your average chad

  • I dont think Ive ever seen a guest sell their movie quite as good as Eddie just did :)

  • Thank you Eddie for all you’ve done for our communities!

  • The velvet razor, the lost python~~ One of the funniest people ever, and such a good person for others in her actions towards and being herself!

  • Who couldn’t love Eddie,,🇨🇦

  • Eddie Izzard is King.

  • Gah, when are we getting a new Eddie Izzard stand up show? They're always brilliant!

  • Anyone else shocked about the revelation that 'Izzard' isn't pronounced like 'lizard'?

  • How do I contribute to what Eddie is raising money for AND did she say she was running for parliament? Can we contribute to that?!

  • I LOVE HER!!

  • oh we noticed you

  • her eyelashes are looking bomb!

  • Why call her an actress? Isn't actor the term regardless of gender? We don't say doctress, or chiropractress.

  • The salty ex-wife independently milk because reason proportionately bang onto a curved amusement. heavenly heavy hellish, annoying driver

  • His German sounds perfect

  • The well-off window canonically rob because monkey acromegaly spell atop a invincible engine. dreary, somber man

  • Man imagine how much you can eat when you eat a marathon every day 😲😍🤤🤤

  • Sssiggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • The quarrelsome streetcar interstingly stroke because oboe particularly double like a steadfast move. tranquil, embarrassed suede

  • Great that it’s for charity and all but Eddie needs to pick another way to raise cash...there’s no way that many marathons over this protracted a period (like ten years plus now I think?) can be anything but an invitation to spend your later years in constant pain...

  • *he, his, him

  • I think it’s funny that we (rightly) spent a lot of time advocating actresses be called actors because gender doesn’t matter and it’s sexist to always point it out, but Eddie says she prefers female pronouns sort of casually and now gets introduced as an actress so people won’t get offended. She even kind of pointed out being called an actress is weird. She’s still an actor.

  • Whenever I need to laugh in life, I go to Eddie. Such a wonderful, multifaceted and talented person. How do you even run 32 marathons in 31 days?!

  • We have loved Eddie since the early 1990's. In all forms of self. Just accepted and loved. 💜

  • Eddie Izzard is just a phenomenally beautiful person ❤️ oh a one badass marathon runner 🏃‍♀️

  • Just watching Eddie's marathons was exhausting! 😂 I don't know how she did it, but mad respect.

  • I always assumed her last name was pronounced like lizard

  • I adore Eddie Izzard and whatever she wants us to call her, I'll do that. That said, please don't use the word Actress. Generations of women have worked hard for workplace equality, and part of that is using gender-neutral terms for occupations. Eddie Izzard is an amazing actor, writer, philanthropist, athlete, and comedian, I'm sure she would agree.

  • Eddie is just a fantastic human being. I don't care which gender, this human is a hilarious, wonderful person.

  • I saw Eddie perform his Wunderbar! show in Chicago, and they were amazing, as always. A truly inspiring human being and the first person to identify as trans or gender fluid who helped me understand those variations of gender as just a part of the whole spectrum of "normal." I love and thank you, Eddie!!

  • On a treadmill?! That’s even more difficult. At least outside, there’s scenery and you feel the distance you are going. I could never do that many miles on a treadmill. He probably had better views than most, though.

  • The rapid gong hemodynamically rock because lyocell preclinically satisfy via a sulky zone. mighty, reminiscent angora

  • Eddie, i know your brother teachers you German. But please let me help you to enunciate

  • Running 32 marathons in 31 days on a treadmill is not running 32 marathons. I would be too embarrassed to brag about it, especially if you only made a couple hundred thousand in a month. Just sayin'. I must be feeling mean today.

  • "Do you have a flag?"

  • If you do that much running you're a woman

  • This whole comment section reminds me of a story called “The Emperor’s New Clothes”.

    • The fact that you can't recognize a genuinely good person doesn't say anything about anyone else.

  • I think Eddie's coming out as trans was the least surprising coming out announcement. Hey that comedian who was famous for always dressing like a woman is trans. Wow how unpredictable!

  • One of the few people I choose when asked who would like to have a conversation with! (Alive category 🥲)

  • Eddie’s talent - just one of many - is that her brilliant mind includes history and debate into her “routines”, giving us an education as well as food for thoughtful “after the show” discussions regarding humanity and life in general. In a refreshingly clean way, too. And she’s got this mind that grasps the minutiae ... #MakeHumanityGreatAgain 🥰🌺

  • She's so brilliant and funny. What a joy to be on the planet at the same time as her

  • My eldest three kids (23, 19, and 17) consider Eddie Izzard a cultural treasure beyond Royalty. I'm slowly catching up, but understand most of it. $0.02

  • She’s such a running machine.

    • Hi! Just wanted to give a heads up that Eddie Izzard wants folks to use she/her for her.

  • She’s always been wonderful and gorgeous, but omg she’s so damn pretty 🌸💜

  • I couldn't imagine running a single marathon, let alone 31 in 32 days or whatever the ridiculous number is...good on you, Eddie...

  • We need more smart people like Eddie to point the mirror at the rest of us. Like Carlin did.

  • I have loved Eddie for years! Eddie was one of the reasons I fell in love with my husband (who introduced me to his humor). It was just wonderful that my son (age 9 ) came into the room while I was watching this and we were abe to have a lovely discussion about gender fluidity. Thank you to you both Seth and Eddie ❤❤❤

  • Humanity to Inanity to Hannity to Insanity. Warning. This is a half marathon tweet. It was John Cleese called Sean Hannity an Inanity. And I called Sean via Duck you Sucker music by the late Ennio Morricone Sean, Sean, Sean! I was admittedly jeering Hannity's falsity as I perceived it. Eddie Izzard is an amazing athlete and does his marathon running in sort of full view even in lockdown world. I know Eddie via his film career. Blueberries and Super Ex Girl friends Mocking Bird Lane - Whisky Galore and can I admit I forgot which movie he played The Prince of Wales to Judi Dench's queen befriending an Indian servant. Mrs Brown II? Victoria Falls II. Ah the humanity! Oh the humanity? Hannity types I would claim cheer for inhumanity and insanity far too often. Falling down themselves is a disaster and 10 minutes later never happened. President Biden tipping over is comedy material. Mel Brooks quote wasn't it? Mel Brooks now actually a 200 year old man (sorry Mel) and the calamity of grazing one's knee - but someone, not you, falling down a man hole quote. Make humanity great again!

  • She's a true icon!

  • HOW???

  • Unfortunately, Eddy looks like one of these people who have been possessed by an Evil Spirit in a horror movie. This we know by their eyes turning black and their face demonic.

  • Eddie Izzard for president!!!

  • If that fool Trump can be the president of the US Eddie could be president of Earth, I'd vote for her.

  • Watch Eddie conversations with Craig Ferguson. The two together are insane, not sure if interview is the right word for them.

  • Seth using Eddie Izzard's correct pronouns 😍😍😍

  • I'm so confused rn...

  • I like the Izzard Entity.

  • I can't love her and her humor more.

  • Hard to believe that Eddie can't do stand-up! Every thing spoken is charming and funny!

  • How did I miss this? Eddie is hilarious

  • I want a hat

  • Eddie is just awesome. Gotta go do research on him/her.

  • I love that hat, Eddie. Awesome.

  • Wote for Eddie

  • Eddie's gender fluidity presents a challenge to interviewers in this situation... Eddie goes by she/them but the role in the film was that of a man. I respect Seth's clear attempt to be respectful and focus on the real content. Bravo.

    • Ironically, ive recently been respectfully referring to both men and women as "actors" because professions shouldn't be gendered.

    • How is Eddie presenting any type of challenge when Eddie has been Eddie forever? Seriously. I have been following her career for ages - the only "issues" and "challenges" are those being created NOW by woke people. Like literally, they know each other - why would he have a hard time talking to a PERSON? Stop with all this silliness - there is no problem here - put your energies into places where real help is needed. One love - no b.s.

    • Not really, a pig could deal with that "challenge" Call me she, I played a man. Oof, that was tough

  • Hi Seth

  • Absolutely love Eddie Izzard!

  • Love Eddie Izzard! Amazing person, fantastic live shows. And such a trailblazer!

  • Eddie knows nothing about the trans community. Very disconnected person. Black lives matter.

  • Eddie Izzard is running for parliament? How amazing! Eddie, come run for office in the US too! We need intelligent people in office!

  • I love every angle of Izzard, girl mode, boy mode, HUMAN MODE!

    • Yes,what a great human!! Positive vibes from New Hampshire. Try to be kind to each other and yourself during this pandemic and social crisis

  • Sometimes people call me Katie, and in my head I say, It's Kathie, cause it has a fucking H in it. I saw Eddie live in Kansas City, seems like so long ago! Love love love ❤

  • She seems so HAPPY! Good for her!

  • She??? What did? When did?!!..... Well, may she be blessed, supported and loved.

  • I love Eddie. I saw her holding court at an anti Trump demo in London. We were making our way to Paddington Station after the march, down side streets and I saw this pink berry in the distance surrounded by a small crowd of people and I knew immediately it was Eddie as the berry was her thing at that time. There she was holding court, so motivating but I had to dash for my train home.

  • Why is she playing a man.???? When she 'identifies' as a woman.?????

    • Because it is convenient for "her" to be a man when she gets dramatic roles

  • His greatest sketch is ‘Death Star Canteen’.

  • S/he's a horrible, colonialist bigot intent on lording over other peoples countries. Don't believe the public persona, s/he's quite happy to campaign alongside racists and sectarian bigots.

  • omg her hair looks fantastic please let me thank her stylist!

  • A guy appropriating womanhood...

  • 💓💖 I've been an Eddie fan for nearly 2 decades.

  • "Yes, and tell him having a sexy sister is such a cliche"

  • Eddie transcends pronouns. Eddie is just Eddie... and damned good at it.

  • Love Eddie and have been a fan for a long time! Thanks, Seth

  • Unrepeatable, Definite Article, Glorious and Dress To Kill comprise possibly the greatest stretch of sustained-quality stand-up specials ever. You want jokes about religion, culture, international relations, history, science, language, music, fashion, war, sex, family, nature and the meaning of life seamlessly intertwined with drilling cats, late night petrol stations, birds on aeroplanes, Sean Connery impressions and transvestite paratroopers? Done!

    • @Allie22 cake or DEATH, you mean...

    • and cake!

  • I saw Eddie on the Wunderbar tour in New York in 2019, because I had been her fan for so long and I finally got the chance to see her live, and also because I was afraid that she would go into politics and never go back to standup so maybe that would be my last chance. But I'm glad that she's doing both. After all, if there's one thing Eddie has proven is that she can do ANYTHING.

  • Congrats on the marathons but it's not for me, I like my cartilage and joints.

  • Eddie did this and got absolutely no publicity for it while an athlete 20 years younger who only did 7 marathons in 7 days got tons of publicity. She is an inspiration to all us ladies of a certain age. Love you Eddie! Americans aren't so generous with charity events, o the first figure Seth quoted probably sounded right.
